RationalPlan Takes Measures Against Russian Military Actions

As a general rule we, at RationalPlan, are following the Office of Foreign Assets Control sanction list and restrict the payment methods to those mentioned countries.

However the current situation in Ukraine deserves a special attention. As such, although the payments are restricted in the SWIFT system, we have decided to stop all sales in the Russian and Belarus countries.

This is our way to protest against the Russian military actions that are undergoing in Ukraine. War is never a solution to any conflict. Innocent people are dying, leaving their homes or suffering in hard conditions!

How Does RationalPlan Position Against its Competitors?

While publishing our products over a specialized reviews directory we were asked: “How do you position yourself against your competitors?“. To summarize it the answer would be: “RationalPlan puts the accent on productivity and tries to be as easy to use as possible: straightforward and intuitive“.

The Pareto principle (the 80/20 rule)

Compared to other products it has the same power but it is more affordable to the users. If you compare for example RationalPlan Single product with Microsoft Project standard version you get 80% of the functionality at 20% of the price. There was a customer – whose name I can not mention without his approval – that after buying RationalPlan he wanted a refund because he was not finding certain features available in MS Project. After explaining him where he can find that functionality we also recommended to keep the product. A few days later we received this answer: “Now that I get to know RationalPlan better, I wouldn’t want to miss it anymore. You helped me save a lot of money by “preventing” me from buying MS-Project 🙂

Embedded project guide

Project management applications tend to be a little bit more complicated and require some training for users to understand how to use them. There are special terms and notions that need additional explanations to understand them. RationalPlan offers an embedded project guide that takes users step by step through the whole process of initiating, planning and controling a project. It is great for a novice or accidental project manager but has the power and the tools to assist an experienced one. Once users get used to the software they can hide the project guide, increase the workspace area and create their own pattern in using the product.

Works everywhere

RationalPlan was developed to work on any operating system: Windows, Mac OS X, different Linux flavors. Even more with the cloud service module it can run directly within the browser no matter what the underlying operating system is.

Great support

One of the main aspects that RationalPlan believes in is the client satisfaction. That is why customer support is a priority. RationalPlan is not a big brand and people do not know it that much but anyone that gets to work with it prefers it over the competitors. Here are just a few testimonials to confirm the customer satisfaction.

However the final verdict is what the users say about RationalPlan products!

Is RationalPlan Supported On Mac OS X Mavericks?

Starting with Mac OS X Mountain Lion the Gatekeeper was introduced that by default does not allow users to run applications downloaded outside of the App Store. In this situation are also the RationalPlan users that are downloading our products directly from our website.

Now since Mavericks is a free upgrade from Mountain Lion the same restriction applies. Hence if you find yourself a fresh Mavericks user and when trying to install RationalPlan you get an error like this one:

RationalPlan on Mac OS X Mountain Lion

you can solve it by going to Apple menu > System Preferences… > Security & Privacy > General tab and under the header “Allow applications downloaded from:” check the Anywhere box. This will allow you to install RationalPlan. However after the install is complete you might want to set it back to Mac App Store and identified developers.

Third Place For RationalPlan At 2012 Project Management Election

The project management provider RationalPlan obtained the third place at Capterra’s Project Management Election 2012. RationalPlan has been nominated as being one of the 55 contending project management software providers. These 55 nominees were chosen from a few hundreds of software solutions.

Providers were split into two:

  • The Traditionalists – those who identified a Traditional/Phased-Approach as the methodology that best fits their software
  • The Contemporaries – those who identified Agile or another methodology as the best fit (as well as those who indicated their solution is tailored to multiple methodologies)

The election started on October 9th and had four rounds, each round for a duration of one week. The candidate pool was narrowed down at the end of each one-week voting “round” based on which candidates had the most votes. Project managers could vote their preferred project management solution just once every day during the entire campaign.

After the first round we were classified as one of the first 10 players from The Traditionalists category so we were validated to enter the next round. The election continued with Round 2 where only the first 3 products from each category went to next round. Round 2 ended on October 22 when RationalPlan was chose as one of the six best project management software providers. Many were and few remained. After Round 3 which ended on October 29 only the best project management product from each category went to final round. RationalPlan was classified on third place.

“We received a great support and a lot of votes from our users that allowed us to obtain this place. The community was very active on social media like Twitter, Google Plus and especially on RationalPlan Facebook page. We thank all those that voted RationalPlan as their preferred project management software”, says Gabriel Toader, CEO at Stand By Soft. (more…)
