Actual Cost in report not accurate?

Postby bingoBob » Wed Apr 04, 2012 9:25 am

Hi,

I have a project with a 'T1' task with the following:
Duration: 2d
Resources: 3 (R1, R2, R3)
Total work: 48h (each resource assigned 16h)

Total Cost: $2560
R1 - Std Rate $50: $50 * 16 = $800 (Prorated)
R2 - Std Rate $60: $60 * 16 = $960 (Prorated)
R3 - Std Rate $50: $50 * 16 = $800 (Prorated)

At 50% completion of the task, the Actual Cost in the Cost report (Reports > Costs) is shown as $1680. If the Total cost of the task is $2560, shouldn't the report be showing $1280 as the Actual Cost?

If I do my own calculations on the exported Excel data, it seems to be fine.

Looking again at this, on the task list in the Gantt chart, I've added the Actual Cost column, which is also calculated incorrectly - so it's not only on the report. The project is on the server, but when I publish it, the calculation is correct! If I try to Save As.. then the file contains all the other projects on the server, which I do not want to send. I can send you screenshots instead - it would be easy to recreate. Please let me know if screenshots would be sufficient and what email address should I send it to?

Sorry for the mix-up! It seems one of the resources' accrual was set to Start, which makes sense why the Actual Cost was not 50% of the total cost. All is well.
