Create the project's work breakdown structure
A WBS is a decomposition (deliverable oriented) of a project into smaller components that covers the total scope of the project (see a sample bellow).
[this is an excerpt from a possible work breakdown structure of a house construction project]
First you should identify the major project deliverables (components).
Then, you should decompose these deliverables into smaller components until they are presented in sufficient detail to define the necessary activities to create them.
To insert a subdeliverable or an activity (task) do a right-click on the corresponding deliverable and select
the
Insert subtask action.
Hint: Many elements are sensitive to mouse right-click
command; give it a try whenever you think you "need something" (Mac users which have a one-button mouse
could simulate a right-click by holding down the "Ctrl" key while clicking the mouse button).
The tree structure of deliverables and subdeliverables can also be achieved by listing them one after another
and then indenting or outdenting them as necessary by using the corresponding icons from the toolbar
(

and

) or the actions from the right-click menu.
If necessary the elements can be moved up and down on the same level in the tree structure by using the

and

actions.
Hint: Keyboard shortcuts are available for most of the actions; to move a
task up for example while having the task line selected simply press "Ctrl-Up Arrow".
To see the key shortcut for a certain button just move the mouse cursor over that button and wait a little bit until the associated hint comes up.
